And here’s the Weekly Music News With The Music Man. This edition will be on time. I know, you’re saying, “Yes! Now I don’t have to read week old news!” Or you’re probably saying, “God, this guy is so annoying. He should stop talking about music.” So, if you’re reading this, give me your opinion in the comments section below this article. Tell me what you think of this series. Good, bad, okay, y’know give me some feedback. That way, I can improve the site in anyway possible.

Anyways, let’s start with the news. We’ll begin with the hottest Australian hard rock band. That’s right – AC/DC. If you are a fan of this band or if you live in the Boston area, you probably know that AC/DC kicked off their Black Ice tour in North America on July 28, 2009. The band rocked out in Foxborough, Massachusetts at Gilette Stadium. They played a 2 hour long, 20-song extravaganza seen by over 46,000 people, according to boston.com.

Opinion: Yeah, AC/DC is BACK IN BLACK! Yes, I know, lame reference. But it’s awesome that AC/DC is back in North America. Too bad I didn’t get to go to this concert. According to some, the band played an awesome set. I think a radio DJ said that Angus played a fifteen minute guitar solo during the show, which I think is amazing, especially at his age. So, “Let There Be Rock” and “For Those About To Rock, We Salute You”. And again, I know, lame references.

So, moving away from stupid song references, Pearl Jam sent fans on a scavenger hunt on July 29, in order to find all nine parts of the new album Backspacer‘s artwork. These parts were sprawled all over the internet and the reward was a demo of Eddie Vedder playing “Speed of Sound”, one of the songs that will be on Backspacer. If you didn’t participate, you still can. But now, you’ll have the help of the Ten Club’s message boards and other sites, making the search much easier. Backspacer will release on September 20th of this year.

Opinion: I actually did participate in this scavenger hunt. It was a lot of fun. And each time you found a piece, you were rewarded with a clip of “The Fixer” playing, which I thought was awesome. The reward at the end was great, hearing one of the songs off of the album.

Moving on to geekier stuff, Guitar Hero 5’s full list has been released. In a piece of viral marketing, a naked guy and his group of naked females released the final 15 songs in the game’s set list. Among them are “Plug In Baby” by Muse, “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits, and “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana. If you want the entire list of songs, go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_Hero_5.

Opinion: Well, first off, the video where they released with the naked girls (and naked guy) was just strange. And all the pervs that are reading this are probably on the edge of their seats, screaming that they want to see it. Well, here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrTiKP84kAA

And it gets me excited that they are finally putting “Smells Like Teen Spirit” onto Guitar Hero. It’s great that they’re adding this classic Nirvana song on and it gets me excited. The setlist looks good from my standpoint, and I can’t wait.
