Welcome back to the weekly segment: Weekly Music News With The Music Man. This week has been filled with surprising things, including Paula Abdul’s leave of American Idol. So, let’s jump right into the news.

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has reportedly broken his shoulder after falling off the stage while dancing. This incident occured in Sturgis, South Dakota during one of Aerosmith’s concert. Billie Perry, the wife of guitarist of Joe Perry, reported on her Twitter account, “[Tyler] hit his head and back. No concussion, stitches in head and back near shoulder. Broken shoulder.” The band has postponed their gig at Winnipeg, Manitoba’s Canad Inns Stadiums. The rest of Aerosmith’s tour is in question, however. Steven Tyler has gotten  a few stitches and is currently recovering.

Opinion: Wow, Steven Tyler’s injured? “MCA” of the Beastie Boys has cancer, Eddie Van Halen gets hand surgery, and now Steven Tyler breaks his shoulder? I wish the best of luck to the Aerosmith singer. Hope he recovers quickly so he can rock Canada!

Oh, speaking of “MCA”, whose real name is Adam Yauch, he is currently recovering from the surgery that removed the tumor in his parotid gland. Yauch has confirmed he is making a quick recovery in an e-mail message to fans. In the message, Yauch says that his surgery was a week and a half ago, and only stayed one night afterwards in the hospital. He says he has not taken any medications. He will begin radiation treatments in several weeks. Again, this complication has postponed the Beastie Boys’ new album, Hot Sauce Committee, Pt. 1, which was originally supposed to release on September 15th.

Opinion: I’m glad that you’re back, MCA. Now start working on that new album!

In shocking news, Paula Abdul is leaving American Idol. On her Twitter account, she told fans that she will not return to the hit TV show. This occured after much talk of her contract, reportedly wanting a $20 million per year deal. After all, Ryan Seacrest, the host of American Idol, got a 3-year, $45 million agreement. Seacrest has said that he was “stunned” upon learning that Abdul will not be returning to Idol. Randy Jackson has said to Us Weekly that he is “schocked” and she “will be missed”. American Idol producers are now looking for replacement judge(s).

Opinion: To be fair, I have to admit that I don’t watch the show too often. But I think Paula leaving the show will have a major impact. I mean many people watch the show just for the judges and their reactions to performances. It will probably lose some viewers from that.  But, other than that, I can’t say much.

And now, to Guitar Hero news! The full, final track list of Guitar Hero: Van Halen has been released. There are 28 actual songs by Van Halen, ranging from hits like “Panama” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love” to obscure tracks such as “Loss of Control” and “Hear About It Later”. Nineteen other songs are on the set list, including the Offspring’s “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)” and Queen’s “I Want It All”. That brings the total songs to 47 songs. Guitar Hero: Van Halen will release on December 22, 2009.

Opinion: SO MUCH GUITAR HERO! I really feel it’s too much. They’re milking the franchise to heck and the Guitar Hero games coming out this year (Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero: Van Halen, and DJ Hero) will not perform all too well or at least not as well as expected, in my opinion. Still going to buy Guitar Hero 5, though. Not a GIGANTIC fan of Van Halen, and 47 songs ain’t too many, so I’m not going to get that. And DJ Hero is just a joke.

And that’s all that mattered to me in the music news. I’m the Music Man, see ya.
