Link Farm – News and DIY Edition

On the World Wide Web, a link farm is any group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group. Although some link farms can be created by hand, most are created through automated programs and services. A link farm is a form of spamming the index of a search engine (sometimes called spamdexing or spamexing).


This time its news and and a very cool DIY project, so on with the show.

Borders survey presumes a future ‘iPAD’ e-reader (Cnet)

Basically in a recent email to customers Borders sent out a servey asking about which ebook reader they were likely to buy. On that servey there was a choice of the “upcoming Apple iPAD”, does Borders have the inside scoop?

BITS:To Microsoft, Basic Research Is Good Insurance (NYT)

Microsoft for years has been buying up talent and setting them to do basic research, is this a good strategy? Evidently Microsoft thinks so with over 850 PhD researchers doing only basic research.

Design for Life: Recycled Wine Bottle Torch (Gerardot & Co)

Most would think that trying to make a DIY tiki-esque torch would be hard or at least semi expensive. But as this blogger states its a great way to recycle a wine bottle and it costs only a mere $5.
